| La
Princesa de Baraqua is my favorite mare and best equine friend. Born
in 1987, she came to us in 1996…. big, near black and beautiful.
She immediately won our hearts with her magnificent beauty and strength,
from deep inside as well as outer, for she is of great courage and
heart. As her name implies, she is of nobility, being a daughter of
the fabulous El Duende. Princesa is 14.3 hands and very powerful.
She is regal, elegant, dynamic, passionate, and possesses an undaunted
spirit. |
 |
Yet
this wonderful mare adores children. Until recently, she was our
schooling horse, even
being ridden by handicapped children. She is the horse my grand
daughter
learned to ride on, beginning at the age of 5. She is greatly loved
and
respected by the neighborhood boys and girls. |
| We are proud to have
two of Princesa’s daughters on the farm. Both exhibit their
mother’s size, strength and tremendous spirit. We are indeed
fortunate to have this mare’s bloodline in our herd. |
| It
is said that for every horseperson, there is that one special relationship
with one special horse. If this be true, Princesa is my soul-mate.
She has indeed made the world a much brighter place and is greatly
revered. Sometimes just being near her gets me through the day. |
Epilog
We lost our beloved
friend on March 14, 2003. She left us of natural causes going guickly
and somewhat peacefully. Although we all knew it was just her time
to leave, I have never felt such helplessness. Her last minutes
were spent with her family, being stroked and reassured by those
of us who loved her totally and unconditionally without reservation.
Words con not express my sorrow and the emptiness I have inside.
As long as I live so will she in my words, thoughts and memories.
I do take some consolation in her beautiful daughters and the knowledge
that someday I will be with her again, for she has surely earned
her place in heaven. “God
forbid that I should go to any heaven where there are no horses.”
